Thomas Evans '25 was named a 2025 Coca-Colar Scholar. This year, over 105,000 students applied for the distinction. Thomas is one of 150 students nationwide who were named as Coca-Cola Scholars. He will receive a $20,000 scholarship award for study at an accredited U.S. college or university.
Thomas's selection as a Coca-Cola Scholar is a testament to his dedication to service, in and beyond the classroom. Thomas has shown remarkable leadership through his role in the Frederick Youth Council, where he has been instrumental in shaping his community's first youth resource center. By working closely with lawmakers and architects, he has ensured that the voices of local youth, especially immigrant children, are reflected in the building's development.
His passion for service is also evident in his deep involvement with Centro Hispano de Frederick – a local immigration outreach center. There, he serves as a teacher, mentor, and advocate, leading adult English classes and creating the first summer music program for Latino youth. His work at Centro Hispano has not only fostered educational opportunities for immigrants, but has also deepened his commitment to immigration advocacy, inspiring his dream of becoming an immigration lawyer. "I hope to help people from diverse backgrounds feel safe and included in a new society," says Thomas. "Everyday presents a new opportunity to foster connection and construct a “home” built upon belonging, a place where anyone can find a support system to pursue their dreams."
The Coca-Cola Scholars Program is the largest corporate-sponsored, achievement-based scholarship program in the United States. The program has provided more than 7,050 scholars with over $87 million in scholarships over the course of 37 years.
