Director of Technology
This is a twelve-month, full-time exempt position.
POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the President, the Director of Technology is responsible for the strategic planning, organization, integration, implementation, and maintenance of all IT functions at the school, including but not limited to campus infrastructure, software usage, and faculty/staff onboarding.
Success in this role will require the Director of Technology to be someone with outstanding tactful written and oral communication skills who excels at collaboration by being amicable, flexible, and considerate of shared goals while both modeling and maintaining professionalism. This position may involve hours outside normal business hours including evenings and weekends as necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure the coordination, security, and efficiency of the IT infrastructure, including the network, hardware and devices, software, cloud platforms, firewall, databases, and servers.
- Oversee, install, and maintain inventory of all hardware, including desktops, laptops, tablets, document cameras, projectors, network devices, printers, and other technology equipment.
- Manage vendor relations, procurement, installation, and implementation of information systems.
- Develop and manage the school’s computer/device operating and IT budget in collaboration with the CFO and Director of Facilities.
- Manage faculty, staff, and student user accounts across multiple platforms.
- Collaborate with the Facilities Department on projects.
- Assess and respond to IT needs as voiced by faculty, administration, and staff.
- Train users in all aspects of technology – both hardware and software – usage across campus as needed.
- Develop documentation, policies, and procedures for all technology usage between faculty, staff, and students.
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend new and emerging technologies for classroom and administrative uses.
- Develop and maintain the school’s databases and internal and external networks.
- Develop a strategic and long-range technology plan for the school, including proposals and projects for improving IT infrastructure.
- Manage a team of technology professionals.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of IT systems, procedures, and best practices.
- Assume responsibility for other projects as assigned by the administration.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Bachelor’s degree in IFSM, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Advanced certifications in network/systems administration, or cybersecurity (e.g., Security+, CCNA, MCSA, CISSP) is a plus.
- Ideal candidate will have experience with the following products: VMWare, Dell Apex, Avamar, Windows, Office 365, Google GSuite, Apple devices, Ruckus Wireless, JAMF MDM, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory/Group Policy Management.
- Proven experience as a Director of Technology or a similar leadership role in an academic environment.
- Expertise in managing IT projects, including planning, executing, and monitoring.
This full-time, salaried position offers a generous benefits package that includes medical and dental insurance as well as a retirement matching program (after 1 year of service) and tuition remission.
