Sam Bianco '01 Named Principal

Mount Saint Joseph High School is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Samuel Bianco ’01 as the school’s new principal, effective March 17, 2025. Since returning to his alma mater as a member of the faculty in 2005, Bianco has served the Mount Saint Joseph community in a variety of roles, including theology teacher, campus minister, coach, administrator, and mentor. He has served the past seven years as an assistant principal, first as Director of Students and most recently as Director of Student Life.

Members of the Principal Search Committee consisted of faculty, staff, administrators, and board members. “The extensive feedback gathered throughout this important process made it abundantly clear that Mr. Bianco is an outstanding choice to be our next principal,” says Mount Saint Joseph President Brendan Donohue.

“As both an alumnus and a longtime member of this dedicated faculty and staff, I have always considered The Mount to be more than just a school and workplace—it is a community that has formed, challenged, and inspired me in countless ways,” Bianco says. “I am honored to continue my service in this new capacity, striving to uphold and advance the mission that has been at the heart of my vocation in Catholic education.”

Bianco holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Loyola University Maryland and a Bachelor of Arts in History from The Catholic University of America. In 2016, he was awarded the prestigious Theodore James Ryken Award for his dedication to the Xaverian mission of The Mount.

“[Mr. Bianco] is a man of faith who understands servant-leadership and the unique nature of a Catholic and Xaverian school,” says Donohue. “As a leader, Mr. Bianco promotes a culture of excellence and relationship-building within our diverse community of students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents, and alumni. His commitment to fostering a culture of brotherhood, faith, and compassion aligns seamlessly with The Mount’s mission.”

“I believe in the power of authentic relationships,” Bianco echoes. “Our school is strongest when we work together, and I am eager to build upon the legacy of collaboration and brotherhood that defines the Mount Saint Joseph experience. As Principal, I look forward to working with our talented faculty and staff to continue to advance the mission of the school.”

Bianco plans to meet with stakeholders in the coming months to discuss ways to enhance academic programs, deepen the school's Catholic, Xaverian identity, and ensure students continue to receive an exceptional educational experience. As Mount Saint Joseph’s 150th anniversary approaches, Bianco will serve an instrumental role in the school’s strategic planning process.

“Together, we will ensure that Mount Saint Joseph remains a place where young men are challenged to grow in faith and wisdom, becoming the men God intends them to be,” he says.
